RESIDENTS NEEDED TO WELCOME RAGBRAI RIDERS JULY 29

WATERLOO, IOWA (July 12, 2010) – The local RAGBRAI committee is announcing the opportunity to showcase your group or organization and share in a community welcome. Be one of the first 200 community members to line the final mile, located on Hess Road between Orange and Shaulis Roads, on Thursday, July 29, and receive a free Waterloo RAGBRAI bandana. There will be random t-shirt giveaways throughout the day. Groups and individuals lining the welcome and farewell routes may hand out gifts to the riders or help pass out provided hand-outs, such as sunscreen.

Along with representing the Waterloo area on the welcome line, community members are invited to participate in a friendly competition. Waterloo RAGBRAI’s theme is “Happy Trails through Waterloo,” and we’re planning to decorate western style! There will be awards for the group or individual with the best representation of the western theme and/or the Waterloo welcome. First place prize is $250, with two additional $100.00 prizes for an honorable mention.

Set up for floats or other large stages must be done the evening of July 28. If you would like to register for a preferred placement or need more information about where to set up, send an e-mail to hospitality@WaterlooRAGBRAI.com. Photos will be taken of all entries/participants from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Winners will be announced at a laterdate; all winners will be notified. Photos will be shared on the Waterloo RAGBRAI Facebook page for the community enjoy.
